I’m Esther, the neurological Occupational Therapist behind IdentOT. I started my Occupational Therapy journey in 2003 when I completed a rotational post covering acute medical wards, orthopaedics/rheumatology and in-patient neuro rehabilitation. I then started to specialise in neurology working on acute stroke wards in various parts of the country. Having gained a solid foundation in acute care I started working in community stroke teams as well as community neurological teams.
In 2021 I started locuming to widen my experience and to develop a role in working remotely with clients. This has proved very successful with clients, who often find it more convenient, energy saving and just as effective as face to face input.
Around this time I also became increasingly aware of how psychological factors were impacting my clients ability to achieve their goals. As a result I started to complete postgraduate qualifications in psychological modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to enable me to better equip clients to re-find their identities that had been lost in the process of illness or injury, or to help them build new identities if that was their preference.
IdentOT aims to help clients navigate the repercussions of illness or injury, helping to set and achieve goals that make a difference on a daily basis to how life is lived.
